Right, that's how it should be in theory, but in reality it wasn't. It was a tiny little rectangle in the middle of the screen, occupying less than 1/4 screen area. So, your "closest match" algorithm did not work in practice.

The resolution of the Nexus 4 is 1280×768. However, apps can't use the full resolution because there is a menu bar on the side that can't be hidden, taking up part of the screen. As far as we know, this menu bar is 84 pixels in width. We have graphics (1196x720) that should fit almost all of the remaining space (minus the menu bar). Were you using an older version of the app that didn't have this support yet? We haven't had any other Nexus 4 users tell us that the board was too small on their device. We can't find you in our purchase records, so we don't know what version you were using. If this isn't working as we expect it to, then please help us figure out why. Send us a screenshot of the board on the Nexus 4.

This is exactly what I was saying -- your predrawn fixed resolution design is not suited for the great variation of Android devices. Yet other app developers don't have that problem; their apps scale to full screen nicely even though they might not use the full actual resolution of any given device. Oh, and their graphics are not really inferior to yours.

All I was saying is that your app only works for select devices which happen to have one of your fixed resolutions. It is unusable on two out of my three, and they are all Nexuses -- not some no-name crap that you wouldn't care about.

If other apps have boards that fit every single resolution, then they are either stretching their boards to fit, having part of their boards cut off, using vector drawing, or some other method that we currently don't use. This isn't to say that we won't do something similar in the future, but there are pros and cons for different methods. For now, we have chosen to develop our app the way we have, supporting the most popular devices. Even though you say Nexus is big, in reality only 1% of our users are using the Nexus 10. As for the Nexus 4, that is something we fully intend to support, but if users don't contact us to let us know something isn't working correctly on their device, there's no way for us to fix it.
