When I play in a Shogi tournament, there is always a prize ceremony. It is always enjoyable, even though I really don't understand what is being said. Usually a pro from Japan presents the prizes which is a great honor. I would like to see prize ceremonies in backgammon as well. I think the issue is the same as last chance; people tend to leave early. I know that in my wife's tournament (Illinois State), players asked for progressive last chance just so they could leave Saturday night if they lost. That is the way people think here.
