1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 ... is a divergent series.

Did you maybe instead want to weight as (1/2) * (N-1) meaning add 1 , 1/2, 1/4 , 1/8 ... which does in fact approach 2 as the number of terms goes to infinity?

That would be ridiculously top heavy with 500 tenth place votes not even equalling a single first place vote.
