Interesting thoughts, Chiva.

I think the problem with deducting points from the infracting player would be that the match could now be, effectively, longer when it is starting later. Could be counterproductive to the idea of keeping the tournament on schedule.

As an example, in my match with Falafel, had he been give -2 points, then I am playing to 9 points and he is playing, effectively, to 11 points. With the current system, I am playing to 7 points and he is playing to 9 points. Considering that the match started late, the source of the penalty, it seems the TD, to best ensure the schedule, would want it played to a lesser number of points rather than to a greater number of points.
