I would use Nactation. I've been able to record speedgammon between two players both on a computer and by hand. Depending on the players involved I might not even go as far as to use Nactation. For example, if I was playing myself in a match I would only need to record the dice rolls and be able to input the match perfectly later. If I was playing Neil there would be maybe 20% of the plays tops that would actually need a symbol, etc...
I've seen your method having input the finals of NYC that you recorded. Nactation is far superior.
