San Antonio--Good and Bad

I had a wonderful time, it was a pleasure to see everyone. Bill & Co worked their asses off and all have my highest respect and gratitude.
Didn't play much BG tho as I was playing in Louisville right up to the start of SA, so I was there more to be social than anything. I really like the BG community, i know i'm green as grass here, however I enjoy everyone and have been treated with respect by the giants right on down to the bottom of the barrel-me.
To quote a old saying I adapted to BG from pool, Bill put 10 pounds of BG in a 5 pound bag. Having all those choice is great, trying to play in everything possible is too much. IMO its up to the players to pick and choose the events they want to play in. Entering everything is great but can cause conflicts in timing and a mistake IMO. If I was a good BG player i'd pick my battles so hopefully there wouldn't be any conflicts in timing and plsay in what I figure to have my best chance to win. The participants should be mindful of this before making their choices of what events they intend to play in. I feel it's the participants duty to plan their Itinerary in a logical manor to alleviate this overlapping problem as much as possible. No matter what there will still be problems, but the good of many side events out weighs the bad.
No one plans to fail, they fail to plan. While I applaud their enthusiasm. It would seem logical to me to pick their battles and focus on them-not go overboard and play in every possible. I also think Bill offering so many events is brilliant as diversity draws more players.
the Duel/Dueal<----sorry for the spelling; is a very cool event and should happen once a year, not all the time. It's a brilliant idea and very fun to watch the best of the best playing for 2 different outcomes simultaneously. I say once a year because if it happened more often it wouldn't be a special event and participation might drop off, having it only once a year gives the players a long time to improve to be better prepared. If it happened 6 times a year it would get old fast. As the outcome might be similar every 60 days.
the only "Bad" thing was the lack of chocolate candy in a bowl at the desk. Bill next year i'll buy the candy for you, how can anyone go more than a hour without a candy fix?
I had a fantastic time.
I been going to a few tournaments here recently and have really enjoyed the warm welcome from everyone.
Best,
Eric the fish.
