Thank you, Igor, Neil, Scott and Ben, for your terrific advice. Looking further, I found a laptop that has the SSD that all four of you rave about, and it even has Quadcore that Neil likes. HP had bad press not long ago, but supposedly it has fixed its problems (yet their products are still selling at a discount).

I'm willing to spend more, but can anyone see anything wrong with this HP laptop for only $585 (maybe $555)?
