It may seem odd that I prefer C (Cross, 24/21(2) 8/5(2) in your original left-hand position (where Blue is +15 pips after the roll), and R (Run, 24/18(2)) in your variant right-hand position (where Blue is only +4 pips after the roll), but Blue has less of an advantage to press on the right; it is harder to prime one checker. Also, due to the six-checker midpoint and lone back checker, you gain more by blocking 66 and 61 on the right.

R gives White more numbers to run into the outfield, but in compensation there are more numbers to hit there when indirects come from the 18pt instead of the 21pt.
E (Each, 24/21(2) 6/3(2)) looks like a good move in either position. Based on your hint, I can imagine that the best plays in the two positions (left, right) are any of: R, C (my main guess); or E, C; or R, E.
