Fastest Windows laptop under $500?

Ah the A8-4500M, a friend of mine was looking at such a machine. Although touted as a 4 core machine, they are note cores in the traditional sense. They have 4 Integer and floating point cores but only have 2 actual main processors. Effectively they are really a dual core machine.
