I'm against touch move. I find that having an actual resulting position in front of me is far more helpful, and "real" than trying to imagine what multiple different plays look like. God only knows what that would do to dramatically diverse rolls like 44, 55 or 66.
A lesson that I use frequently when playing doubles is to play them one at a time, and not necessarily quickly, as each position is new when you do it that way, and its a better way to assess options. Having to make forced plays because I touched a checker, then realized there was a far better option? Thats ridiculous.
Obviously Dana didnt do this intentionally.
I think that what this shows is a need for monitors on important matches - or for formal LM kibbitzers or something like that.
Someone made a suggestion to run a touch move only event - that would be interesting, and I am sure that players PR's would be dramatically higher because of it.
Touch move is a mechanical question, and quite frankly having to make sure you get your mechanics right as well as finding the best play, without being able to look at options is too far, IMO.
