Igor, thanks for the input, and I think it's a very good observation.

However, in this position, I called it a dubious backgame... It was 2-5 so almost more like a frontgame! JAson has shown the position, I find it hard to categorize into the same deeper backgame drawer as your examples, thus I don't think your logic will apply here. But you couldn't know from my description.

Another thing, in reply to both yours and Jasons posts: Maybe Jasons "missed doubles" turns out to be good no doubles with a small margin. Maybe we're in the category where it makes sense not to cube, even though it's theoretically correct according to the XG ME Table. BUT, being the dog agains a top-3 player in the world, you really have to not challenge him in that sense, and loosen up on your cubes to improve your chances. And I think that was my point.
