As you yourself pointed out - yes it is a pattern. The way in which the doubling window opens however varies a lot. Its reasonably safe to say that most holding game cubes that XG throws are more likely to be takes than passes. Blitzing cubes have higher variance, but many fall into the take category. Bearoff cubes again are more often than not takes (early bearoffs).

It doesnt help you on cube decisions, however, it does teach you early reference positions from these. This is the most obvious downside to using XG as an improvement tool.

Its not a steadfast rule "take any cube XG gives you that doesnt cost you too many gammons", but you will find that you will lean more towards taking than dropping on most occasions.

A value that it does give however is learning how to play from those positions you should have dropped or vice versa. Unfortunately, this is a good reason why XG is an analysis tool primarily, and also why the wisdom and experience of humans continues to have great value, even in the face of XG and its 'near-perfect' play.
