Given that since about 65% to 70% of initial doubles should be taken if your opponent cubes optimally, taking vs. XG is more often right than not (since it doesn't miss any cubes).

Generally speaking that may give some effect to lower cube PR, but it should have a miniscule effect on checker PR. Checker play is usually the dominant factor in overall PR.

However it's possible that it will have a bigger effect for higher PRs than lower ones.
