In Response To: Most of these arguments have NOTHING to do with Legal Moves (Art Grater)

Now that i understand that you would not allow the players to agree on anything without the approval of the TD, we have no issue about all these side things you have raised. Since most TD's will not allow people to make these side agreements you have raised, there is no point debating whether or not it is okay. It ain't gonna happen. I have too much faith in the TD's not to allow people to make up their own rules or change the basic rules as they wish.

As for allowing people to play NLM or LM, there is an argument that when two people in a NLM tournament agree to play legal moves, they are not doing something outside of the rules of the tournament as they exist, since the current rules allow you to correct your opponent's move if you want to, whether the move helped you or not. The private agreement simply is a handshake that you will do it either way if you see it.

If you play LM, when you decide to play NLM you are agreeing to something ouside of the rules of the game: you are saying you will not point out an illegal play when you see it, and the rules specifically say you should.

Again, if you cannot see the difference in these two situations, we can start a new thread for the next month.
