It might well be effective, yet I have already declared on this site that I will always, without any exceptions whatsoever, require my opponent to reroll in such a situation. That is, of course, assuming that the rules give the opponent of the fast roller the right to choose, which IMHO they certainly should. I prefer to stop my clock, and point out that it is still my turn.

What I have noticed, sadly, is that players are more likely to grab the dice early when one has missed a (much) better play.
