I'm in agreement with Neil K here. For a 128 player event, I'd pay the top 8. Typically, for the Wisconsin tournament, we stagger out the payouts (in the top 8 scenario) like this:

Winner - Runner Up - Losing Semi 1 - Losing Semi 2 - Losing QF 1-4

8-4-2-2-1-1-1-1

for a total of 20, so take the total cash pool for prizes, divide by 20, and pay out on the above schedule. In the professional event this would equate to (say GBP 225 towards prizes, unless you are doing a registration fee):

225*128 = GBP28800 28800 / 20 = GBP1440 1st = 1440*8 = 11520 2nd = 5760 SF = 2880 QF = 1440

I would also in this case round these numbers out a little bit to:

11500 5700 2800 1400

Leaving an additional prize fund rollover of 400 which you could toss into whatever you felt like - an additional event or something.

If doing consolation and last chance winners, then still aim for paying 8 places, just change the distribution up a little to include them, say a 4:2:1 ration for main:conso:lc for places.

There are lots of people on this forum that can help out with this stuff, but its pretty easy in general. Tournaments in the US most often pay out around 8+ places for a field of 64, 4-8 for 32-64 etc.

K
