Women and men tournament brackets; meet in finals

Bob Koca says: "Seems like a terrible idea. Why do it that way?"
The answer: For the same reason I have an open offer to personally pay the $10 entry fee for the first player under 18 years old who registers for our weekly tournament--I want to encourage participation by young players. Similarly, I figure that the gimmicky format (men vs women) my entice more women to play in our tournaments.
Socially, our group seems to do well. We all seem to get along and even generally like each other. For example, the stronger players generously offer teaching counsel during play to the weaker ones (after they make the bad plays of course).
As you can see, we only have a $10 entry fee (with optional side-pool for those interested) so the primary purpose is to have fun playing tournaments. I think having more gender balance will enhance the social aspect of our group, which I suggest will bring greater enjoyment to the backgammon we play.
Of course I could be dead wrong in my analysis and conclusion, so this is why I seek and appreciate input from y'all.
