Bob, almost any big cubes during a match, would make the time issue a non-issue under the old rules. Because you had X minutes to play the entire match, if one game resulted in 8 points, you had just saved 3-5 games worth of time right there!

We played clocked 17-pointers in the team leagues, and say the score was 10-8 after 4 games (8, 4, 2, 4 points), you were more than halfway through the match, but had so much time to spare on the clocks (2 x 95 minutes to begin with) that no player would get into any sort of time trouble.

Bronstein somehow keeps pushing a little bit more momentum, even though you have a big swing or two in the match, due to less "bank time".
