You are right in that I'm seeking feedback and all details aren't resolved -- I think, to some measure, the player-participants should have input. I do, obviously, think the format concept interesting, entertaining, and challenging.

I do have some initial reactions to several of your points. Clocked (perhaps I should have so stated, I'm a big clock proponent -- Open, Masters, and Doubles have been defined as clocked in San Antonio). Legal moves (for the obvious reasons you note -- also, in my estimation, because it is right). No one forced to play on a computer. Clock settings vary if played on a computer? Certainly seems appropriate to do so, but don't ask me to define the settings yet.

I know you are open-minded enough to fairly consider, and candid enough to constructively opine upon, a tournament format which, hopefully, will provide the accomplished player another avenue of competitive and entertaining play. The idea is an obvious attempt to allow the best technical players and/or the best match players to vie in a spectrum of match play providing interest and entertainment to the audience while offering challenge, enjoyment, and a potentially attractive prize pool to the participants.

I've enjoyed the considerable discussion surrounding the Denmark vs. the World competition at the Nordic Open. Wins and losses in relation to technical performance are significant topics within that discussion. This will be an individual event rather than a team event and the format varies significantly from the challenge competition; however, another similar event, with the potential for like interest and discussion, can't be bad for the game.
