As usual, I agree with your comment 100%. And I don't have any reservations about allowing underage players to enter. Most of these will have parents who also play the game and there shouldn't be any problems. The issue is whether or not they should be solicited to enter. The risk I see is a situation where someone enters a tournament and the parents are surprised and unhappy about what they find at the tournament site. Such parents might react in a way which would be harmful to the game. Is the risk worth the reward? I don't know. I think both risk and reward are small. I would lean towards either ignoring underage players or aiming efforts at scholastic-only events which would have close to zero risk.
