Initially it seems like it shouldn't matter. At first you're being posed with a 1 in 3 option, and now you're being posed with a 1 in 2 option. QF was telling me it couldn't be right though. The conditional probability of your first pick does make it right to switch after they show you the empty door.

If you stay, you have 1/3 odds that you picked the right door, then they showed you one of the two doors that have nothing behind them.

Or, you have 2/3 odds that you picked the a wrong door, and they are now showing you the other wrong door, thus revealing the one with the Mercedes.
