If that argument does not sway someone and they still believe it is 50-50 then here is a trick that will allow them to get a 50% chance of winning the lottery:

Bet on the daily number. Let's say you pick 432. Do not watch the drawing but have a friend watch it. Afterwards the friend will always be able to choose two numbers which includes your number and the winning number. For example your friend might say "The winning number is either 432 or 814". You now have a 50% chance of winning that lottery. With payouts being 500-1 you would either be rich very quickly or have a misconception of math leading you to believe the win chance is 50-50 when it is actually not.
