"I agree that where there is a disparity in strength then there would sensibly be some need to adjust cube action. However, in practice the adjustments made are usually far too great and have the effect of reducing overall winning chances. The trouble is players normally only have two approaches - adjust against very weak player or do not adjust at all. The tendency is to treat all "weaker" players as if they are very weak. Also doubling late often makes cube decisions easier for the weaker players. A normal double which is a clear take is often passed by weaker players."

It depends on the character of the weak player, both things can happen. A weak player can play the best player taking a small pass in the race for eample

"In BMAB tournaments and BMAB applications the prime motive is to win the event because this is where the winners receive by far the most prize money. In BMAB tournaments the event winner is the player who won the most matches, not the player with the lowest PR. All the players registered within BMAB have played under these conditions were it is very important to win, playing a wide range of opponents without any scope for cherry picking."

I am talking about BMAB tournaments only, aplications are ok. The registration fee is small and trying to semplify the game actually is convenient for both players to score good PR. I expect quite an omogeneous field so it would be difficult to outplay the opponent, the winning chances would not change much. Maybe you have data to confirm or not my supposition, for the same player I expect lower PR in a BMAB tournament than in an application.
