After 15, 10, 3, 3, the 10 point is bearing on the unmade 4 and 5 point, so as soon as you have a free roll, you will often improve your homeboard. In the mean time, the 10 provides a landing point to bring your checkers home.

There are other examples where you play an opening 33 13/10(2) 6/3(2), realizing that helps finding this play.
