All the bots are pretty bad

I have yet to find a really good bot that agrees with most of my plays, so I see little point in debating which one is better.
But there is little point in debating the subject on this level at all. The market decides which bot will be used...supply and demand. When GNUBG was completely free, most of us were shelling out $400 for Snowie. Do you always get what you pay for? Was Snowie worth that much more? Is XG worth that much more than GNUBG for $60?
There is no generic answer to these questions...it's up to each individual and the marketplace to decide how much he is willing to pay for what.
Most have seen the independent reports that XG is faster and more accurate than the other bots. Most like the interface better. And most use XG who are knowledgeable.
I do have a real problem with a couple of sites that are still offering Snowie to the public on their site as the only bot they recommend and sell. How would you like to be a relatively new player to the game, read about how great Snowie is, shell out $400.00, and find out a few weeks later that GNUBG and XG are out there for free and $60 respectively? I would be really pissed. It's the same way I feel when I book a hotel room for $150.00 and hear the guy next to me check in for $85.00. And he gets a better room!
I won't criticize someone for buying a Bentley when they could easily get across town in a VW. It's their business if they want to pay more for what they perceive are extra features that come with the Bentley (smoother ride, more comfort, pretty women).
Now, to say that we owe some thanks to people who develop free software is entirely true, but that does not have to be done with criticism or any negativity toward the makers of Snowie and XG. If they overpriced their products they wouldn't have been bought. I am sure Snowie would have sold many more if they were cheaper, and I am sure XG would sell fewer if he were more expensive. I am one of those who, from the beginning, told Xavier he could easily price his amazing product for double his initial asking price and to this day I believe he would have made more money at $100 a pop instead of $50 once the word got out how great it was. And is there anyone who can fault his tech support and constant work to improve and upgrade his product since the day it came out?
