I like the delay for many reasons, but if you don't have a delay, then you probably need to add some time to the total, and it would amount to about the same thing.

As for touch/move, I am all in favor of that in the Open division, and in lower divisions, allow the movement, but with the caveat that checkers moved must be away from the other checkers or bar so you know which one was moved (or the move can not go back).

As for the first roll, I will go a step further. Let the player who is trailing in the match always have the first roll (non-doubles of course). Alternating causes the problem of trying to remember who's turn it is.
