I liked phils other suggestions if thats what it takes to get some sanity in the rules. I prefer my suggestions. No offense intended & so be it delays are for sissy's. I & countless others have used a clock in chess for decades . Your time runs out you loose tough sh..t You touch a piece you piece you move it. That causes you to loose- tough sh..t re; the two above changer- trust me people will learn fast!
re alternating starts with no doubles counting on the 1st roll/ that s just an idea I threw out to get some feedback. Obviously i like it. It is borrowed from games like tennis & chess too! All i have done is borrowed some ideas from chess, another very visual board game that also requires complicated over the board calculations
all these rules work very well in other games / sports that are more popular & successful than backgammon. So of course there is no way they could work in backgammon & when the rules committee or whatever the governing body is gets off the dark ages crackpipe perhaps there will be some sanity in the rules & backgammon will have a chance to grow again. People in a competition want the rules & judges to be fair & consistent. Backgammon is currently lacking on both counts
