I don't see what being able to perform with different rule sets has to do with not wanting to play in tournaments with rules and rulings perceived to be inferior. I can play with legal moves or without them, with clocks or without them. I can't imagine there's a Giant out there who can't do the same; it's not something any of them have to prove.
