I agree that in most cases blue should be able to bring in the 3 stragglers in 3 rolls. Sometimes, though, he may need 4 or even 5 rolls to do so.

Perhaps blue will be able to bear off in 8 rolls from there. Then again perhaps he will need 9 rolls.

I am pretty clueless and have tried to just make a quick analysis in between emails at work. I kind of like your approach but think it may be a little optimistic as I think blue is more likely to require more than 11 rolls rather than fewer rolls.

considering your ghetto approach I now agree that I was probably being too pessimistic on blue's behalf. I think he may be requiring 12 rolls to bear off. So 85 pips for blue, imo.
