Even if it does take 3 rolls on average to reach the 8 roll position it is incorrect to just add 3 to the 8. An n - roll position does not mean it takes n rolls on average to bear it off.

3 X 8 1/6 = 25.5 which is 3.5 EP more than a 3 roll position has.
