There is no correct order. (to annotate a play)

You certainly don't believe this you don't push it to the extent I do is all. If someone new in backgammon came to you via email and told you "I played 6/3 22/20 6/3 8/5 here" I don't believe for a second you wouldn't point out to them the commonly accepted way of annotating plays. Also, if there isn't a right way to do it then why have all the bots over the years done it the same way?

I point it out for two reasons. There's no way to know if I'm right or not or ever test it but performing these details in the wrong manner makes me wonder if it's the person's general lack of attention to detail when addressing backgammon. There's no way to prove if they're related or if it matters but when I see it I think 'sloppy'. Again, I could be wrong, but I could never picture Nack saying he played '11/10* 24/20'.

The second and more practical reason is for Jason Lee or whoever has similar details of running an online match or replying to people's questions. You don't realize how much of a nuisance these things can be until you've done it. You think to yourself "Jfc, why can't people put the play down in a clear manner so I don't have to figure it out?"
