First, I just want to say that I appreciate all of the effort put into this and my following questions are not meant to be cynical or rhetorical, but honest questions about this new organization.
"A fundamental goal of this organisation is to raise the international status of backgammon as a mindsport"
Why do you want to raise the international status of backgammon as a mindsport? What are you trying to gain by doing this? What is your motivation?
In my opinion, backgammon is not the greatest game in the world because it is a mindsport. I can think of several other games that are mindsports that hold up better against backgammon in this area (chess, go, poker, bridge, scrabble). The reason why backgammon is special to me is because it is the greatest gambling game of all time. It is an absolute perfect combination of luck and skill and constant action. If I wanted to play a mindsport I would have kept playing chess. What drew me personally to backgammon was that it was a gambling game. Turning it into a PR race is going to suck a lot of the fun out of it for me. Yes, I want to lower my PR, but by keeping it as not the primary focus of the game I enjoy myself much more and it makes it more enjoyable to study and learn the game as well. Others I'm sure disagree, this is just my opinion.
