If the proposed USBGF Rules set is endorsed by the members I think you might just find that actually little (or maybe even nothing) really changes with regard to your wearing headphones in tournament matches. If the opponent doesn't object then it seems unlikely that the TD will. I found that 30% of my opponents objected to using a BB in my matches and, IMHO the bulk of them had shit shaking/rolling habits. For a quiet life I never once went to the TD.

My guess is that your experience of the acceptance of headphones is a lot higher than mine of BB's (partly because you're not asking them to wear them as well!). If you play in events with the proposed new Rules I guess that there will be few who object and, perhaps, most of those that do so prove not to be garrulous assholes into the bargain. There's only one way to find out.
