In Response To: Bad Sportsmanship To Complicate Game When Opponent Short On Time? (Paul Weaver)

If you love the clocks, and many here do. Then you have to take it in to consideration when you're playing a match with one. By law if one's opponent's clock runs out of time, they lose --- therefore, complicating the game is a basic strategy when the opponent has spent all their time earlier. Having a clock aleviates an agravating situation of having an opponent spend an unreasonable amount of time on every (mundane?) decision, making the game about as fun as watching paint dry. Without a clock, against the wrong opponent, touney bg becomes a test of patience rather than bg experience.

If you disagree with this, then you'd probably run to the non-clock side of the laws, or at least modifying the rule somewhat. Every sport that plays with the clock uses it to their advantage and think it's outrageous to consider this as unsportsmanlike conduct. I think that clocks have become a necessary evil. Yet, one more level of complexity to master.
