In answer to your questions:

1. I set up the board with my left hand; 2. I seldom win gammons, so it doesn't matter; 3. I rarely win a game.

However, you raise an excellent point. The basic rules of play should be attached. However, keep in mind that these rules are intended for tournament play...they are not the rules I would use for beginners. I was commissioned to write a set of rules for beginners, and they are inside of every Wycliffe board sold through Gammon Village.
