Backgammon variant with slightly non-random dice

Prices these days for custom playing cards are quite reasonable - a quick search shows packs of 1000 blank cards for about $25 for hand-written rolls on the faces, or only a hundred bucks or so for several dozen decks of custom printed faces (with simple dice-combo graphics, which would obviously look better. Hopefully some enterprising TD will get some. Eg this sort of thing:
