There are a lot of different points here and several of them are valid. I just want to address the one about the private room and the USA vs the World final.

I specifically requested a private room for Sunday and the USA vs the World consultation final. There was nothing 'elitist' about this, it was simply used for the USA vs the World/High Roller and other Sunday finals matches. It doesn't matter if you are one of the 'best' players or not, it was reserved for the players involved in matches only.

The reason I requested a private room for USA vs the World is because in Denmark vs the World it has often been a problem with too many spectators crowding around trying to see the board. This makes it difficult both for other spectators simply to see what's going on, and for players to deal with the increased commotion, noise, ambient temperature, etc.

It's not at all unusual to play matches in a private room or on an elevated stage, especially for major events. To encourage spectators I requested that a microphone be set up so everyone could hear the group discussions of the entire room, and to broadcast it onto a viewing screen and speakers. Michelle also set up a camera so that people could see the players in addition to the board.

I feel it's unfortunate that more people didn't watch the final. In my opinion it has more to do with the difference between American and international tournaments, however. In international tournaments, many spectators come to watch the finals matches; in American tournaments, there are usually very few spectators. Many people go home immediately after the tournament is scheduled to end. Since American tournaments don't place much value on spectating or finals matches, other things are scheduled at the same time. In this case, the US vs the World final was scheduled at the same time as the start of the last chance--meaning everyone in the tournament would be busy with LC matches. In DK vs the World, the final is scheduled for 9pm at night. Some players are involved in matches, but many are free. In America such a schedule would be extremely uncommon.
