You do not need to prove that there is no luck in backgammon, you need to prove that skill predominates luck. I think the example of the better player winning 998 out of 1000 25-point matches is a good one and does make that point. And, the fact that luck will usually determine the winner of two equally matched players is true of most games of skill that have an element of luck. Take two of the top poker players and see how often the one that gets the better cards wins a heads-up match.
