Often any of your pieces could be moved in chess and in backgammon the number of points or blots you have is the limit and it is also more likely that some cannot be moved at all so disagree with "more limited number of pieces that can be mvoed". Also each of the backgammon pieces is limited by the dice whereas many chess pieces have several possible moves so "more finite" is also off.

Agree that moving two or four checkers in bg vs one in chess is a valid point.
