I'd think that online matches are shorter on avg. If shorter matches is a bit easier PR-wise, that will also contribute.

In addition to bots, friends could be mentioned also. If you have a friend sitting in your living room, it's my understanding that most players think it is OK to have that friend's input (casual consulting). This would NEVER happen live.
