Thanks for the tips, Iancho. FTH boards do look nice; they look almost identical to what Gammon Village calls "Freistadtler" and sells at quite a markup. The problem with European vendors for us, US residents, is the unfavorable exchange rate with euro. But I'll find out how much they may actually cost.

I'm not looking for a cheap board. For that matter, buying a good board is not a matter of necessity for me, but rather a luxury I could do without. I do have a Dal Negro "eco-leather" set that I once snatched on amazon for $200; once you replace everything but the actual board it's not that bad after all.
