Declining to play on someone else's board shouldnt be a question of rudeness, more a preference. Occasionally, you will end up 'rolling for board', but whenever someone rejects my board, I dont get offended.

I did (last year) experience playing on one of Phil's boards - with the red and green checkers, which as I played, I found that the color scheme of the board and checkers simply messed my eyes up, I started seeing green checkers where there were red and all sorts of funny stuff. Board colors are more important than you may think...
