The word 'donkey' appears in 720 posts here on BGO. I imagine 719 of those are mine ;) That's my short way of saying 'bad job' or 'bad call' or whatever Daniel and Keene said in standard terms.

You now have 3 seasoned bg players who are telling you this was not how a TD should settle a situation. Like it or not, his 'decision' was donkalicious. If your TD doesn't want to be insulted via his donkification he shouldn't make 'rulings' like that. If I had this situation arise and a TD came over and told me his opinion and I could do what I wanted I certainly wouldn't have a good afternoon. TD stands for tournament director. He needs to direct when called for a decision. Your guy gave an opinion the way any random bystander could have.
