A buddy of mine, best known under his nom de plume Max Rubin, was invited by a casino to test drive a prototype electronic blackjack table. (This was probably ten years ago, by the way.)

"It keeps track of how you bet, how you play, and what the count is. Go ahead, try to fool it."

"Sure," says Max, "but playing is thirsty work. May I have a Coke?"

The waitress brings his Coke.

"Oops!" says Max, as he spills the Coke all over the table, which proceeds to short out impressively: smoke, sparks, crackling noises. "Now let's play!"
