We are all humans and we all make mistakes. Rules can never cover completely every situation, so there is always a window for interpretation and judgment. A TD has a tough job to put up and to run a tournament to pregress and finish smoothly. Rulings are often the toughest part of their job.

Yes, having a Ruling Committee in place before the start of a tournament, with an odd number of experts (+ 2 reserves if one or two members of the committee are involved in a ruling case) helps everyone to feel better (the players with the appeal as well as the TD as a single judge).

But at the end of the day, life goes on. It´s a backgammon tournament, not a matter of life and death. You´ll get over it, Michel will get over it, his opponent will get over it.
