I think being tired is a very valid excuse for a BG player

That's just it though, it's an excuse. Every bg tournament you attend you are likely to be tired by the end of it, is it just a universal excuse you can use to explain your lackluster play? You should be quoting your live backgammon error rate if you can, not what you play at home when nobody is bothering you versus the bot with your favorite tunes in the backgammon and a pie in the oven. It doesn't matter how good a guy looks in practice, it's game day that matters.

I bet Tiger prefers to play on 2 legs and Jordan plays his best when he's not ill.

If you're aware of the two performances I'm referring to I'm not so sure Jordan could have played better and Tiger, while preferring not to hobble around like a gimp, I doubt would have excused his own play because of a bum leg if he had lost.
