Error Rates

In my opinion too much emphasis should not be put on error rates.Admittedly they are an indication of someone's strength if someone is consistently in a certain range but nowhere as accurate as a chess rating. As you point out after rolling out blunders the error rates can change. Also let's say you have a low error rate in a match, maybe some moves marked as correct were actually errors or blunders after a roll out, but since they weren't flagged you didn't think to roll out those positions. What if bots misplay certain positions? Sometimes I get the feeling that some of the old masters would laugh all the way to the bank knowing the right moves to make at the table for a given opponent even though their error rates were higher :-)
