You must simply be joking if you really think that only 1-2% of people cheat when it matters.

Actually, I understood Joe to believe that 2% or less of people cheat at online backgammon, which may be a low estimate, but is not the same thing, is it.

About bridge, I'm not sure why you say "bridge has become very successful." Bridge was the game to play 60 years ago. But more recently, say, from 2005 to 2013, ACBL membership declined from about 165 thousand to about 160 thousand.
