Igor is spot on here.
Because for some reason, a lot of players have another definition of cheating for online compared to what they would accept live.
Using the MET is one good example.
Another could be "getting assistance" from a friend in the room. Say you play online, and on one or two decisions every 5th match, you go "look at this interesting position" to your backgammon playing friend, who happened to be around. He might say something useful or he may not. And you might consider using that input in your decision, consciously or not. That's not really cheating is it? You're just being social around a game...
But the same thing happening at a live tournament? It would really get people upset, and probably get you DQed as fast as you can say Hank Youngerman.
