For their purposes they can define sport how they choose but their definition is very arbitrary, contradicts what they list as sports, and is far from the common conception of sport.

They specifically list auto racing and equestrian two sentences after the prohibition on being harmful to living creatures. http://olympics.time.com/2012/07/28/equestrian-eventing-the-olympics-most-dangerous-sport/

Also do they really think bridge is void of "any" element of luck.
